You, Me, Together I am pleased to be able to give you the following link to a short (7 minute) film featuring our year four children as part of the You, Me, Together: Mental Health and Wellbeing Project. The film was produced in partnership with Arts & Heritage Alliance (AHA-MK) and Artwork, along with MK Council Public Health and the Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). The programme engaged 150 children in two primary schools and two secondary schools in MK and sought to uncover young people’s thoughts and perceptions around mental health and wellbeing.
The workshops were designed by Artis to provide children with a safe space to explore their feelings and use the performing arts to express themselves creatively. Each session provided activities in music, movement and drama that allowed the children to express themselves and identify both their feelings and the feelings of others, and how to share their feelings and worries.
Year 4 Visit to Cadbury World - On Wednesday 25th April our Year 4 children visited Cadbury World in Birmingham. They had a fantastic day and really enjoyed the visit. They participated in exciting activities (and there was some chocolate involved too of course!) As usual their excellent behaviour was commented on so thank you Year 4 for representing Caroline Haslett so well.
Santander Money Workshops
Thank you to Santander who visited the Year 4 classes on Thursday 22nd February. They ran money workshops to help the children understand the concept of finance. The children learned a lot and we are very grateful to Santander for helping children understand the value of money.
ARTIS - Year 4 Arts Project
During the Spring term, our Year 4s have been working with Martha, a professional performing artist from Artis, which is a performing arts education charity.
They have been taking part in workshops every Thursday as part of the You, Me, Together: Mental Health and Wellbeing project supported by Arts & Heritage Alliance Milton Keynes and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group.
Their work is …
- A fusion of music, drama and movement
- Active, creative and great fun
- About building children’s self-confidence and sense of wellbeing
- Developing listening and communication skills
Martha has also been staying on to run an after-school club for Year 4 that will support them in achieving their Arts Award Discover certificate. Here, they spend time participating in performing arts activities and learning about different artists.
